Richmond IONS February 2023 Meeting
“Creating A Novel From Your Past Life”
Our February 18, 2023 program will feature a talk by
Marta Anne Tice, Nellysford-based CID, ASID, Author, Interior Designer, Innkeeper and Feng Shui Practitioner, on her past-life inspired historical novel, Allegiance to Alsace.
All of us have hidden in our memory banks experiences of other lifetimes, and some of us are impelled by circumstances, and memories bubbling to the surface of our awareness, to engage with them and write about them.
When Marta was fourteen, she experienced a déjà vu flashback of a lifetime in Germany in the 1800s. Later, she experienced another connection with that lifetime, when she became mesmerized by a book on Napoleon she found in her parents’ library.
Later still, when studying art history and history of furnishings at American University, visions of that lifetime, set in the early nineteenth century, returned.
While visiting Alsace-Lorraine in 2006, more memories, plus synchronistic events, manifested themselves as if from nowhere. When studying Napoleon’s Josephine, Marta felt as if she had known her!
After several regressions, her memories came together into a coherent whole. Through massive research over many years, that lifetime came alive for her when she began writing about it during the Covid Pandemic.
The novel which resulted is, effectively, Marta’s “channeling” of her experiences and first-hand memories from that lifetime, presented in fictional form.
Allegiance to Alsace was published in April 2022 and is currently available on Amazon and on Barnes & Noble.com, both in print and in Kindle and Audible formats.
Marta will share her journey of self-discovery and offer suggestions for how we can discover our own non-linear histories, since we all have them. Signed copies of the novel will be available at the event.
About Marta Anne Tice, our Richmond IONS February 2023 Meeting Presenter
Martha (“Marta”) Anne Tice is a native of Virginia and graduated from American University with a BA degree in Art History with an emphasis in history of furnishings and interior design. She is a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers).
Marta’s love of horses and equestrian sports kept her active in fox hunting with three Virginia hunt clubs for over thirty five years. She is the owner of “Leap of Faith Lodging,” a bed and breakfast at Nellysford, near Wintergreen.
As a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, she is passionate about genealogy. She researched her father’s Tice (Theiss) side, which drew the inspiration for her novel, Allegiance to Alsace. Her father, William Preston Tice, a Roanoke, Virginia neurosurgeon, believed we carry the memories of our ancestors in our DNA.
Her sequel, Alsace to America, now in progress, will focus on her mother’s family. Marta can be reached through her website at martaatice.com or by email at martaleapoffaith@gmail.com.
